Assistant Accountant Birmingham | Hybrid Working | Permanent Up to £35k + Option for Study Support
Are you looking for a varied and rounded finance position? We're recruiting an Assistant Accountant to join a growing finance team in Birmingham. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this role offers the opportunity to become heavily involved in the production of month-end accounts while maintaining oversight of key finance operations.
This is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious finance professional who enjoys getting into the detail, taking ownership of reconciliations and supporting the production of accurate management information.
The Opportunity As Assistant Accountant, you'll play a key role in supporting the month-end close process, ensuring the integrity of financial information and helping the finance team deliver accurate and timely reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
Assisting with monthly management accounts preparationPreparing accruals and prepaymentsCompleting balance sheet reconciliations and investigating variancesReviewing financial postings and maintaining ledger accuracySupporting VAT returns and finance compliance requirementsAssisting with payroll administration and monthly payroll checksEnsuring all month-end deadlines are achievedSupporting audit preparation and financial controlPurchase ledger processing and supplier reconciliationsSales ledger administration and customer account managementBank reconciliations and cash managementEmployee expenses and corporate card reconciliationsPurchase order administration and controlsFinance inbox management and query resolution About You We're keen to speak with candidates who have experience within an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant or Finance Officer position.
You will ideally possess:
Experience supporting month-end processes - Accruals, Prepayments, Journal EntriesStrong reconciliation skillsPurchase ledger and sales ledger experienceExcellent attention to detailStrong Excel skillsA proactive and organised approachStudying AAT, ACCA or CIMA What's on Offer?
