Job Title: Shipping ClerkJob DescriptionThe Shipping Clerk ensures accurate, timely, and compliant shipment of products by working from work order sheets, shipping pick lists, vendor pack slips, and verbal or written instructions. This role prepares all required shipping documentation, operates warehouse equipment, uses shipping software, and collaborates closely with team members to maintain an efficient and organized shipping operation.Responsibilities
• Work from work order sheets, shipping pick lists, vendor pack slips, and verbal and written instructions to accurately process outgoing shipments. • Perform various warehouse tasks as assigned, including restocking inventory, assisting with loading and unloading trucks, and troubleshooting shipping or inventory issues. • Comprehend and apply HAZMAT shipment procedures to ensure safe and compliant handling of hazardous materials. • Prepare all documentation needed for shipment, including labels, packing lists, and any required carrier or regulatory forms. • Operate and maintain warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts, moving materials across different areas of the warehouse or second building. • Communicate and coordinate with team members across the warehouse floor and additional building to ensure smooth operations and efficient workflow. • Utilize shipping software and computer systems to process orders, print documentation, and update shipment status, spending approximately 40% of the time on a computer once trained. • Start in pulling and stocking roles to learn products, locations, and processes before transitioning fully into shipping responsibilities. • Use RF scanners to pick orders, verify inventory, and track product movement within the warehouse. • Follow safety guidelines and proper lifting techniques when handling packages up to 50 pounds frequently. • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring products are stored and staged correctly for shipment. • Support continuous improvement efforts in the shipping area by identifying process issues and communicating them to the team. Work EnvironmentThis is a first-shift position, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shipping area features a shipping line with about 45 employees, and new team members initially work on the floor behind the line to learn products, locations, and processes. The warehouse has approximately 610 employees and can be dusty at times; protective glasses and shoes are provided, and no smock is required. The role involves frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and regular movement across the warehouse and a second building while using pallet jacks, RF scanners, and computer-based shipping software. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
