About this role
The Senior Application Database Administrator plays a key role in designing, supporting, and improving cloud-based databases that power modern applications. This person partners closely with engineering, DevOps, and platform teams to ensure databases are reliable, scalable, secure, and optimized for performance. This is a hands-on role with strong technical leadership, where you will guide best practices and help teams build solutions that work well in cloud environments while supporting business-critical applications. You will report to the Software Development Agile Developer.
Responsibilities
Lead the design, performance, and reliability of cloud-based, application-facing databasesPartner with engineering teams to build scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient database solutionsGuide best practices for database design, schema changes, and performance tuningTroubleshoot and resolve production issues, leading root cause analysis when neededImplement standards, guardrails, and automation to improve database operationsMentor team members and support knowledge sharing across engineering and database communities 7+ years of experience working with application databases or in DBA roles, including cloud environmentsStrong expertise in at least one relational database platform (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle)Hands-on experience with cloud-managed database services and modern architecturesAdvanced skills in SQL performance tuning and troubleshootingExperience supporting production systems and making sound technical decisions independentlyStrong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across diverse teams Benefits/Perks:
