About this role
Do you have solid hands-on experience in customs and trade compliance and are looking for a role where you can take on more responsibility and expand your expertise? As our Customs & Export Control Specialist, you will work independently on day-to-day import and export compliance tasks — from tariff classification and customs declarations to export control screenings and license applications. You will be a trusted contact for internal teams and external partners, contribute to the continuous improvement of our trade compliance processes, and help keep our operations ahead of a constantly evolving regulatory landscape.
What you will do
Manage import and export activities, including the preparation of customs declarations, documentation, and regulatory compliancePerform tariff classification, customs valuation, and country of origin determinationsConduct export control screenings, including dual-use assessments and restricted-party checksPrepare and track export license applications, permits, and renewalsReview shipping documents, invoices, and customs records for accuracy and complianceMaintain up-to-date and audit-ready records related to customs declarations, export classifications, and compliance checksMaintain customs and export control procedures and internal controlsSupport risk assessments and internal audits, and contribute to the implementation of corrective actionsAct as a contact point for customs brokers, freight forwarders, and authoritiesProvide guidance to internal teams (Logistics, Procurement, Sales) on customs and export control topicsMonitor regulatory changes and industry developments, and contribute to the update of internal processesSupport process improvement and digitalization initiatives in trade complianceContribute to cross-functional projects involving international trade or supply chain topics Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related fieldFreight forwarding clerk education or a relevant certification (e.g., P36 Customs Officer, P37 Customs Broker) is a plusPreferably professional certifications in customs or export control (e.g., Certified Export Compliance Professional, Customs Specialist) Solide knowledge of customs regulations, export control laws, and international trade compliance (e.g., HS codes, EU Dual-Use Regulation, EAR, ITAR)Practical experience managing import/export processes, customs declarations, and trade compliance requirementsAbility to classify products for customs and export control purposes, including dual-use assessmentsExperience with customs or trade compliance systems (e.g., SAP GTS, Amber Road, MIC, Descartes)Knowledge of free trade agreements, preferential origin rules, and international customs frameworksExperience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government authoritiesSolid analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detailStrong communication and collaboration skills for working across internal teams and with external partnersHigh integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility for compliance obligations

With us you will receive an attractive annual gross salary from 50.000 € (plus bonus, KV Metallgewerbe). Depending on your experience, this can also be higher.
