Georgian Bay Fencing is looking for an experienced, reliable construction professional to join our growing team.
We are looking for more than just another set of hands. We want someone who takes pride in their work, shows up consistently, can think through a job, solve problems in the field and eventually grow into a crew-lead position.
Employees meet at the yard each morning, generally between 7:00?8:00 a.m., depending on the day?s schedule.
*Applicants must:*
* Have reliable transportation to and from the yard every day * Be punctual and dependable * Be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions * Be willing to work longer hours when required * Hold a valid G driver?s licence, as you may be required to drive company vehicles
*Responsibilities*
As a fence installer, you can expect to:
* Install chain-link, wood and decorative metal fencing * Work on both residential and commercial projects * Dig and prepare post holes * Clean up and remove excavated dirt * Set fence posts * Mix and work with concrete * Lift and carry posts, mesh, concrete and other heavy materials * Be physically capable of lifting at least 50 lbs * Ensure fences, posts and gates are plumb, level and properly aligned * Perform job-site assessments to determine installation requirements * Assist with measuring, laying out and preparing fence lines * Operate machinery and construction equipment * Safely use hand tools and power tools * Load and unload trucks and trailers * Keep company tools organized, clean and treated with care * Keep trucks, trailers and job sites organized * Clean up and properly put away materials, tools and equipment throughout and at the end of each shift * Prepare and load trucks and trailers for upcoming jobs * Think ahead when loading for a project and visualize the job to ensure all required tools, equipment and materials are brought to site * Work efficiently while maintaining quality workmanship * Adapt quickly to changing job-site conditions and different work environments * Take direction from supervisors while also showing initiative * Collaborate with team members to complete projects safely and efficiently * Communicate professionally with coworkers, supervisors and customers * Help maintain a clean and safe work environment
What We?re Looking For
*The ideal candidate will*:
* Have previous fence installation experience * Have experience with chain-link and/or wood fencing * Be comfortable reading a tape measure and taking accurate measurements * Understand how to properly set and align fence posts * Be comfortable using construction tools and equipment * Be able to take direction and work independently when required * Show initiative and think ahead * Be adaptable and able to handle unexpected situations on a job site * Be reliable, punctual and hardworking * Take pride in their work * Take care of company tools, vehicles and equipment * Work well as part of a small construction crew * Be physically capable of demanding outdoor construction work * Have reliable transportation to our Stayner yard * Hold a valid G driver?s licence
Experience operating skid steers, mini excavators, augers or similar equipment is considered an asset.
*Pay*
$25?$35/hour depending on fence installation experience, skill level and ability.
Compensation will reflect your experience, independence, quality of work and ability to take responsibility on a job site.
