Are you a Registered Paramedic looking for flexible work while making a real difference in emergency care?

We are seeking experienced and motivated Paramedics to join our Emergency Department Bank Team. This is an exciting opportunity to bring your frontline expertise into a fast-paced acute setting, supporting patients from the moment they arrive at the Emergency Department.

Working alongside nursing, medical and ambulance colleagues, you will play a key role in ensuring timely ambulance handovers, undertaking initial patient assessments and delivering high-quality clinical care. Your skills will help improve patient flow, reduce delays and ensure patients receive the right care at the right time.

To be successful, you will be a Registered Paramedic with experience in acute clinical assessment and decision-making. You will have excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently and confidence in prioritising patient care within a busy environment. Experience in triage, IV medication administration and clinical interventions is desirable.

Main duties of the job

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrate effective clinical practice with a sound knowledge base incorporating proven research.

To participate in the management of the Department and offer support to the Department Manager.

To maintain effective liaison with other disciplines in all matters of patient care delivery.

To be familiar with the Child Protection procedure and to ensure that all the departmental staff are aware of the policy.

Promote good working relationships with the Police Ambulance and other supporting agencies.

Respect confidentiality of all information pertaining to patients and their families.

Demonstrate basic computer skills to comply with the Trust's I.T. policies/protocols of order and receiving results of clinical investigations.

To achieve monitor and maintain a high standard of patient care and give a courteous and caring reception to all patients, relatives and visitors.

To handle complaints (both verbally and formally written) in an open manner.

To implement quality initiatives as appropriate.

To assist medical staff, ensure treatments are affected and advise on nursing priorities.

To report immediately any accidents to patients or members of staff, also any untoward incidents to the Department Manager in conjunction with the Trust's risk reporting procedures. Where possible, ensure remedial action is taken to prevent the occurrence or re- occurrence of such incidents.

Conducting patient assessments and clinical observations. Performing venepuncture, IV cannulation and ECG recording. Supporting ambulance handovers into the Emergency Department. Assisting with patient care in emergency and escalation areas. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care.

Person Specification

Experince Essential

Evidence of clinical competence in acute care assessment Ability to prioritise patient care and the allocation of resources within the department Able to work without supervision.

Desirable

Good, effective interpersonal & communication skills

Qualifications Essential

Professional registration as a paramedic Formal qualification in patient assessment and clinical decision-making. HCPC Registration as a Paramedic.

Desirable

Advanced Life Support (ALS) qualification.

Skills & knowledge Essential

Basic paramedic skills IV drug administration Competence in triage

Effective negotiation skills
