Job summary Speciality Doctor in the department of Breast Services

We are inviting applications to fill our Specialty doctor vacancy at The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in Department of Breast Services. This post will commence as soon as possible after successful completion of all pre-employment checks and is fixed term for 1 year.

Candidates must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and hold a license to practice by the intended start date.

Main duties of the job This post may be particularly suitable for an experienced General Practitioner who wishes to develop a specialist interest and expertise in the assessment of breast symptoms and breast cancer diagnostics. Applications would also be welcomed from doctors with relevant experience from other clinical backgrounds who meet the requirements of the post.

The postholder will work exclusively within the outpatient Breast Service, predominantly undertaking Two-Week Wait (2WW) Triple Assessment Clinics.

This is a non-operative role. There is no requirement to undertake breast surgery, inpatient care, acute general medical duties or surgical duties, and there is no routine on-call commitment associated with the post"

Why you should join our Team Leeds Breast Services provide comprehensive diagnostic, surgical, therapeutic and supportive care to patients referred from Leeds and the surrounding region.

The Breast Unit receives approximately 12,000 new referrals each year and diagnoses and treats approximately 700 breast cancers annually through the symptomatic and NHS Breast Screening pathways.

The successful applicant will join a well-established multidisciplinary team including Consultant Breast Surgeons, Consultant Breast Radiologists, Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs), Physician Associates (PAs), Breast Care Nurses, Pathologists, Oncologists and dedicated administrative and MDT staff.

What you will bring to the role The principal responsibility of the postholder will be the assessment of patients referred to the Breast Unit through the 2WW suspected breast cancer pathway.

Undertake structured clinical assessment of patients presenting with breast symptoms.

Take an appropriate breast and relevant medical history.

Perform clinical breast examination.

Participate in Triple Assessment Clinics alongside ANPs, PAs, Consultant Breast Surgeons and the Breast Radiology team.

The role is specifically intended to increase clinical capacity within the symptomatic breast service and will predominantly comprise 2WW Triple Assessment Clinics in Breast Outpatients.

The postholder will work alongside and as part of the existing clinical team of Consultant Breast Surgeons, ANPs and PAs.
