An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Respiratory Department as a Medical Secretary, full time, fixed term until the end of March 2027.

We are looking for a hardworking, highly motivated team player who will also be able to work on their own initiative. You must have excellent communication skills and a friendly manner.

You should have a good level of clerical experience and good working knowledge of IT systems although full training in the use of our systems will be provided.

Main duties of the job

To manage and support allocated Consultant and team in the Team Leader's absence. To ensure a high standard of secretarial and administrative service are consistently delivered by undertaking / delegating all required tasks and activities on a daily basis. To utilise the required technology / hospital systems including Evolve / Epic and any other new technology or system(s) that are introduced and support other team members to do so to deliver an efficient administrative and secretarial service. To recommend and support the implementation of service improvements to own and team working practice to improve workflow. To train and develop other team members to ensure competencies are developed, sustained and updated and to deliver the required administrative and secretarial service in a changing working environment.

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Proven administration experience Proven Medical Secretarial background Competent in the use of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook Experience of working with patients face to face Previous experience of working with vulnerable members of the public or within community health setting

Desirable

NHS experience Epic experience

Qualifications Essential

5 GCSEs (or equivalent), C or above, including English & Maths Working knowledge of Medical Terminology

Desirable

AMSPAR or working towards attaining AMSPAR qualification

Knowledge Essential

Understanding of the need to maintain Patient Confidentiality Data Protection - knowledge of GDPR requirements and legislation
