Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurses to join the Medicine Division (MACNEE) at Colchester Hospital.
The Medicine Division provides care across a wide range of specialist and general medical services, including:
Care of the Elderly Frailty Gastroenterology Endocrinology Respiratory Medicine Stroke Renal Medicine General Medicine As one of the largest and most diverse clinical divisions within the Trust, MACNEE offers excellent opportunities for newly qualified and experienced nurses wishing to develop a broad range of clinical skills within a supportive multidisciplinary environment.
You will have the opportunity to discuss and negotiate their preferred specialty area during the recruitment process, allowing you to build a career pathway aligned to your interests, skills and development goals.
You will be a key member of the ward nursing team, delivering high-quality, compassionate, person-centred care while working alongside a wide range of healthcare professionals to achieve the best outcomes for our patients.
This role is not suitable if you are required to complete OSCE

Main duties of the job
Working within your allocated ward area, you will:
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. Deliver safe, effective and compassionate nursing care. Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team. Recognise and respond appropriately to deteriorating patients. Contribute to discharge planning and patient flow. Support patients and families through complex and often challenging healthcare journeys. Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records. Participate in audit, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. Support and supervise students, apprentices and junior colleagues as appropriate. Act as a professional role model and advocate for high standards of care. With guidance from ward managers and senior nurses, you will be encouraged to develop professionally and pursue specialist interests within your chosen medical specialty.

Experience Essential

Experience supporting students and junior staff Experience of quality improvement and audit activity IV therapy and cannulation skills Catheterisation competencies Experience caring for patients with complex medical conditions Leadership or people management experience
Skills & Abilities Essential
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to work independently using professional knowledge and judgement Effective time management and organisational skills Ability to prioritise workload within a fast-paced clinical environment Competence in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Education and Qualification Essential
Registered Nurse with current NMC registration Evidence of continuing professional development Teaching and Assessing qualification or willingness to undertake
