We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Lead Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy Homecare team. You will play an important role in supporting the delivery of an efficient, patient-focused growing Homecare service, helping patients receive specialist medicines safely, reliably and conveniently in their own homes.
Working closely with Pharmacists, Clinicians, Homecare providers and Pharmacy colleagues, you will support the Principal Pharmacy Technician with the coordination and the provision of Homecare services to patients. You will also manage the day to day running of the Homecare service and work closely with clinical teams to support the onboarding of patients onto Homecare, including counselling where appropriate.
You will need excellent organisational and communication skills, a strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise your workload and meet deadlines. A commitment to patient safety, confidentiality and delivering a high standard of service is essential.

Main duties of the job
To support the Principal Pharmacy Technician with the coordination and the provision of Homecare services to patients, in line with national standards, guidelines, local policy and procedures ensuring compliance with medicines legislation and MHRA requirements. To undertake day-to-day supervision and where appropriate, line management of Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants and admin/clerical staff who are working in Homecare. To support the delivery of KPIs for the Homecare service. Once certification achieved, to participate in the clinical screening/verification of homecare prescriptions utilising nationally recognised certification in line with departmental policy/SOPs. To be involved in cross site working groups to deliver the Pharmacy strategy, to improve practices at each of the Bedfordshire Hospital sites. To work directly with clinical teams to enhance the delivery of Homecare services, review and improve existing services in association with the Principal Pharmacy Technician. To work closely with the clinical teams to support the on boarding of patients onto the Homecare service and counsel them where appropriate. To act as the primary link between the clinical teams and Pharmacy to support cost saving initiatives such as biosimilar switches, generic switches and ongoing service development and refinement.

Qualifications Essential
Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent experience Accredited Checking Technician (ACPT) NVQ 3 in Leadership and Management or equivalent experience
Desirable
Membership of APTUK CIPS level 3 certificate in purchasing and supply or willing to undertake Certified by a recognised national provider (i.e. PWDS Homecare Services - Prescription Validation & Clinical Screening Programme) to clinically screen homecare prescriptions or willing to undertake.

Experience of working to deadlines and managing own workload to meet the needs of a service Experience of working within a Homecare or Procurement setting CPD portfolio demonstrating competent pharmacy practice as a senior pharmacy technician Experience of formulating standard operating procedures Experience of supervising and training staff Ability to appropriately prioritise tasks of your own and others using suitable delegation skills Staff management including, performance, appraisal, sickness and HR procedures
