Term: Part time (21+hours) Term Contract - until March 2027 Location: Seabird Island Band Office, Agassiz, BC Status: In-Office

Schedule: Monday, Wednesday and Saturday (+ 1 day, flexible)

Salary: Starting from $30.74 an hour – Depending on skills and experiences.

About the position

• Develop and lead a weekly Youth Drop-In Program, offering engaging, educational, and culturally relevant activities for youth.

• Plan and facilitate a variety of youth-focused activities, including cooking nights, recreational programs, movie nights, and life skills workshops.

• Create a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment that supports the emotional, social, physical, and cultural well-being of youth.

• Build positive and trusting relationships with youth and their families to encourage participation and engagement.

• Identify and support youth who may be at risk by providing mentorship and connecting them with appropriate community resources and support programs.

• Collaborate with schools, community organizations, and internal programs to enhance youth services and maximize community resources.

• Incorporate youth feedback into program planning to ensure activities remain relevant, meaningful, and responsive to their interests and needs.

• Coordinate program logistics, including scheduling, transportation, attendance tracking, and activity preparation.

• Ensure the safety and supervision of participants during all program activities, adhering to established policies and procedures.

• Promote the program through community outreach, school engagement, social media, and participation in community events to increase awareness and participation.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or certificate in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Community Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.

• Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and contemporary issues.

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect effectively with youth, families, and community members

• Experience planning and facilitating youth programs and activities in a safe and inclusive environment.

• Minimum 2 years of experience working with youth, preferably within Indigenous communities.
