Job summary

Do you have a passion for patient safety? An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Patient safety Team at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton Hospitals NHS FT (UHDB) to support the implementation of Martha's Rule trust wide.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated nurse to support the local education and overall delivery of this important patient safety initiative as well as support projects within the deteriorating patient workstream.

Main duties of the job

The Patient Safety Support Nurse will support the delivery of the patient safety elements of the Trust strategies, working under the direction of the Patient Safety Practitioner. This will involve:

Providing advice and support to clinical staff and managers relating to patient safety subjects and specifically the implementation of Martha's Rule.

Providing programmes of local education to colleagues to facilitate the implementation of the elements of Martha's Rule both from a knowledge and system perspective.

Facilitating and supporting staff in embedding Martha's Rule as part of the patient safety culture across the organisation.

Promoting approaches to improving clinical quality performance.

Supporting patient safety related projects and being part of the team that ensures projects are established, run and monitored in line with Trust standards.

Supporting the team to drive forward national and local initiatives to deliver and measure improvements in patient safety.
