The Resuscitation & Simulation Department at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a Teaching Clinician to join our team of educators.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, innovative, highly respected educational department within the Medical Director's Office portfolio. The successful applicant will be actively delivering clinical skills, high fidelity clinical simulation to medical students and foundation doctors. There is also an excellent opportunity for personal, professional and faculty development.
Main duties of the job
UHDB is a research active University Hospital with a large and varied portfolio of clinical trials and research opportunities for all staff.
The post is for 1 years and the successful candidate will;
Deliver high quality teaching for medical students and junior doctors within the Trust. The post holder will deliver postgraduate teaching for Foundation Programme trainees based in the west of the region and those at the Royal Derby Hospital. Plan, support and contribute to the agreed programmes in conjunction with the Foundation Programme Directors and the Simulation & Clinical Skills Tutors.

Deliver high quality teaching for medical students and junior doctors within the Trust. Support the on-going development of undergraduate teaching for medical students in accordance with their curriculum. Plan, support and contribute to the agreed programmes in conjunction with the Foundation Programme Directors and the Simulation & Clinical Skills Tutors. Delivery of advanced clinical simulation for foundation doctors.

Qualifications Essential
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification Advanced Life Support Provider Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice at time of application
Desirable
PGcert Medical Education Advanced Life Support Instructor Certificate in Medical Education, MRCP / MRCS Anesthetic exams/ RCGP
Clinical Knowledge and Skills Essential
Completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in the specialty. Experience in teaching either undergraduate medical students or post graduate trainees by various methods Experienced in making clinical decisions and managing risk.
Desirable
Minimum 1 year NHS Experience Experience with simulation scenario development at either undergraduate or postgraduate level
Admin, Audit and Research Experience Essential
Evidence and experience of supervising and teaching resident doctors and medical students o Ability to and experience of teaching clinical skills Experience of and commitment to clinical audit and/or Quality Improvement Projects (QIP) Evidence and ability to assess and apply evidence-based research into every day clinical practice Evidence of relevant academic and research achievements relevant to the specialty
Desirable
Any teaching courses or qualifications. Experience of teaching basic clinical skills to under-graduates
Experience Essential
Relevant acute experience Experience with the delivery of acute simulation Experience with simulation scenario design and development
Desirable
Experience in simulation faculty development Previous experience with simulation training or leading a simulation scenario.
