About this role

Job summary

Park House Surgery is looking for a motivated, compassionate and enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive primary care team.

We are an established and expanding GMS GP practice in Prestatyn, North Wales, caring for a patient population of over 9,300. We are looking for a nurse who is passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and who wants to develop their skills within general practice. We welcome applications from experienced Practice Nurses as well as Registered Nurses looking to develop their career in primary care.

This is initially a part-time position, with the potential for additional hours from the New Year, subject to business needs. Your working days must include Monday and Tuesday. Salary is depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

You would be part of a team of Practice Nurses and Healthcare Assistants undertaking all aspects of the practice nurse role including cervical screening, routine and childhood immunisations, travel immunisations, wound care and contraception/HRT checks. Should you wish to expand your skill set we are open to the option of supporting you through chronic disease training in the future.

Job description Job responsibilities

Working as part of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide a broad range of nursing services to our patients. Your duties will be tailored to your experience, competencies and training and may include:

Routine nursing assessments and patient reviews.

Long-term condition management, including diabetes, COPD and asthma

Wound and ulcer care

Cervical screening/cytology.

Routine, childhood and travel vaccinations and immunisations.

Contraception and family planning.

Health promotion and well-person clinics.

Blood pressure monitoring, ECGs and urinalysis.

Taking appropriate clinical specimens, including swabs.

Peak flow measurement

Minor illness assessment and management within your scope of practice.

Supporting travel health assessments and providing appropriate health advice.

Recognising and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns.

Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous clinical records.

Participating in clinical audit, quality improvement and service development.

Working collaboratively with GPs, nurses, healthcare assistants and the wider practice team.

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Experience of working autonomously Experience of infection prevention and control measures Experience of working within a nursing team

Desirable

Experience of working in a primary care environment Experience of working as a practice nurse or community nurse

Qualifications Essential

Registered Nurse (RGN/RN) with current NMC registration. Basic Life Support.

Desirable

Long term condition management qualifications. Cervical screening/cytology. Immunisation and vaccination training. Family planning/contraception. Travel health. EMIS experience. Infection prevention and control qualification
