We are looking for those with initiative and good communication skills to join our forward-thinking Pharmacy team.
The Posts involve working alongside our Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Dispensers and Assistants providing integrated pharmaceutical care for service users in the Trust to ensure safe, appropriate and cost-effective use of medicines.
You will work on a rotational basis across Pharmacy Departments at Sunderland Royal Hospital, South Tyneside District Hospital and CHoICE.
Apprentices will develop skills and knowledge in all areas of hospital pharmacy required to become a qualified Pharmacy Technician, and to work towards the Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) Apprenticeship standard.

Main duties of the job
You will undertake a wide range of pharmaceutical duties under the supervision and professional direction of a Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician, including:-
The order receipt and storage of medicines.
Accurately dispensing prescriptions and ward orders.
Advising patients on the safe and correct use of their medicines.
Participating in the Integrated Medicines Management Service.
An ability to work in a team is essential and it is vital that you understand the needs of patients and other staff members.
You must have effective time management skills.
As part of the Pharmacy team, you will be required to contribute to late night (8.00pm), weekend and bank holiday rosters.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
A minimum of four GCSE (or equivalent) Grade C or above (new grade 4-9) including Maths, English Language, Biology, Chemistry (or Dual award Science/Buttercups Level 2 Foundation in Science for Pharmacy Technicians) in line with GPhC guidance and course provider requirements.
Desirable
A minimum of four GCSE (or equivalent) Grade B or above (new grade 6 or above) including Maths, English Language, Biology, Chemistry (or Dual award Science/ Buttercups Level 2 Foundation in Science for Pharmacy Technicians) in line with GPhC guidance and course provider requirements.
Experience Desirable
Work experience in hospital or community pharmacy. Experience in a customer service role.
Knowledge Desirable
The role of hospital pharmacy and hospital pharmacy technicians. Understand the values of the NHS.
