Job summary
Are you passionate about helping people and making a difference to their quality of life? We are seeking a motivated and caring individual to join our friendly and supportive Audiology team. Based primarily at Sunderland Royal Hospital and Palmer Community Hospital, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of a high-quality Audiology service for adults with hearing loss.
Working alongside a team of 26 Audiologists and other healthcare professionals, you will contribute to both clinical and non-clinical activities, helping to ensure patients receive safe, effective and compassionate care. This varied role offers the opportunity to support hearing aid users, assist with clinical activities and contribute to the smooth running of the department. We are looking for an organised team player with excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient-centred care. Previous healthcare experience is desirable but not essential, as full training and support will be provided.

Main duties of the job
As a Clinical Support Worker within the Adult Audiology team, you will work with Audiologists in providing an efficient and effective service for adults with hearing loss.
Your duties will include carrying out basic hearing aid maintenance, repairs and replacements via our postal and hearing aid drop off pathways. You will help to prepare and set up clinical areas, ensuring they remain clean, safe and well organised. You will also assist Audiologists during procedures and help to ensure patients are treated with dignity, respect and compassion at all times.
The role also includes a range of other responsibilities such as maintaining stock levels, scanning earmould impressions, inputting patient information onto electronic systems and supporting audits. You will work within established protocols under direct or indirect supervision, communicating effectively with patients, carers and colleagues, including individuals who may have hearing loss, learning difficulties or other communication needs.

To support Audiologists in providing an efficient, safe and effective Adult Audiology service.To participate in a range of clinical activities within the department, including basic hearing aid maintenance, repairs and reprogramming.To provide support for patients with hearing loss, including advice on self-management and hearing aid use.To participate in a range of non-clinical activities within the department, including scanning earmould impressions, checking equipment and maintaining stock levels.Work will be protocol driven within a defined scope of practice and will be subject to direct or indirect supervision.To contribute to administrative tasks and housekeeping to help maintain an efficient, professional and patient centred service.The post will be primarily based at Sunderland Royal Hospital and Palmer Community Hospital. There may be an occasional need to work at Washington Galleries Health Centre, or travel between these sites part way through a day.
