About this role

Job summary

We are looking for 20x Part time Domestic Assistants that will be required to work Monday to Friday AM or PM. We have limited full time vacancies available.

You may be required to work in other designated locations of theTrust as well as your primary base. In particular, flexibility isrequired across the three main hospital sites (Leicester RoyalInfirmary, Leicester General Hospital and Glenfield Hospital). Ifyour initial location is one of these sites excess travelreimbursement would not apply for a permanent or temporarychange of base.

Main duties of the job

The role of Domestic Assistant is a multi-skilled role which involves cleaning duties within designated patient and non-patient areas within the Trust.The post holder will maintain good working relationships with;o Work colleagues throughout the Trusto Domestic Team Leaderso Domestic and Facilities managerso Ward and department clinical teamso Patients and the general public

Job description Job responsibilities

To carry out cleaning tasks, both specific and generic, within prescribed work schedules for designated areas, in line with Trust policies and procedures. To adhere to Trust infection control prevention and Control of Substances Hazard to Health (COSHH) policies in carrying out cleaning tasks. Ensuring that the domestic trolley and other cleaning equipment are cleaned after use and stored appropriately To adhere to the Trust colour coding system to prevent cross infection. Ensuring the correct and economical use of materials and cleaning chemicals in line with above relevant policies i.e. COSHH always seeking advice from Domestic Team Leader if in any doubt. Cleaning cupboard doors are secure/locked when unattended To remove & dispose of cardboard, household and clinical waste following adherence to waste regulations and Trust policies and procedures. Ensure all equipment is cleaned after use and stored securely. Ensure all cleaning products are stored securely. Report to your Domestic Team Leader any mechanical defects and any equipment in need of repair and any mishaps or untoward incidents. Able to clean and disinfect areas after body fluid spillages in non-clinical areas (after training)

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Able to carry out instructions and duties as detailed in the job Description. To achieve within 3 years NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in cleaning and support services and customer care

Desirable

Previous experience of working within a Healthcare environment. Previous cleaning experience.

Communication and relationship skills Essential

Have a good standard of the English language and both written and oral communication skills Must be able to provide menu information/guidance to ward teams. Provide and receive routine information orally, in writing or to work colleagues. Ability to work as a team member or on own initiative.

Skills Essential

Understanding of a range of routine work processes, requiring a combination of on-the-job training and a period of induction. Adhere to policies and procedures

Planning and organisation skills Essential

Planning and organisation of daily/weekly work tasks/activities. Understands what standards are to be achieved
