About this role
DescriptionOur customer is scaling rapidly across its engineering organization and is seeking Senior Wire Harness Design Engineers to support its Small Platforms product line. This role owns both the architecture and implementation of wiring systems for prefabricated harnesses a scope that is often split into two separate roles at larger companies, but is combined here. The ideal candidate has experience as a router or packager who has since transitioned into making independent design decisions, and is comfortable coordinating closely with mechanical engineering, since harness design is a direct input into the broader mechanical integration process. The work spans products at every stage of maturity from a single platform currently in active production to multiple platforms still in early concept or first-hardware phases. This person will split time roughly 80% at a computer designing and routing harnesses, and 20% on the production floor verifying that designs are being built correctly. Key Responsibilities - Architect and implement wiring systems for prefabricated harnesses across multiple Small Platform programs - Route and package cable/harness assemblies in 3D CAD, coordinating closely with mechanical engineering and packaging - Select cables, connectors, and components and justify those design decisions from a functional standpoint - Develop and maintain schematics and harness documentation using ECAD, PLM, and MCAD tools - Support both new product design and continuous refinement of existing designs - Identify and patch process gaps as they are discovered, improving team workflows over time - Verify designs on the production floor to ensure they are being built as intended Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field strongly preferred; equivalent experience considered - 5 to 10 years of experience in wire harness design, routing, or electrical integration - Demonstrated experience owning both harness architecture and implementation, not just one half of that scope - Hands-on experience with an ECAD tool (Zuken E3, Siemens Capital, EPLAN, or equivalent), a PLM tool, and an MCAD tool (NX, SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA) - Ability to independently select components and articulate the reasoning behind design decisions - Strong cross-functional communication skills, particularly with mechanical engineeringSkillsEcad, PLM, MCAD, Design, 3D Harness Routing and Packaging, Zuken E3, Siemens Capital, KiCAD, Teamcenter, NXTop Skills DetailsEcad,PLM,MCAD,Design,3D Harness Routing and PackagingAdditional Skills & Qualifications- Automotive EWIS or harness design background (Tesla, GM, Ford, Rivian) - Experience at Shield AI or Anduril - History of process improvement automating or streamlining a manual design workflow step - Brief or informal project/team leadership experienceExperience LevelExpert Level Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Austin, TX.
