Job Title: MIG WelderJob DescriptionThe MIG Welder fabricates and welds metal components according to blueprints and specifications, producing both structural and cosmetic welds on a variety of parts and assemblies. This role involves operating welding equipment, performing high-quality MIG welds on steel and stainless steel, inspecting welds for accuracy and appearance, and maintaining a safe and organized work area in a busy manufacturing environment.Responsibilities
• Perform MIG welding on parts such as leg stands, cab shields, engine mounts, light bars, and other components according to engineering drawings and specifications. • Execute MIG tack welding to securely hold steel components in place prior to final welding by finishing welders. • Carry out cosmetic MIG welding on VBOX hopper spreaders and other visible surfaces, including straight-line welds, in-position welds, and out-of-position welds with consistent quality and appearance. • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings to determine weld locations, dimensions, and requirements. • Cut, grind, and fit metal parts as needed to prepare assemblies for welding, ensuring proper alignment and fit-up. • Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment safely and effectively to complete fabrication and welding tasks. • Visually inspect welds to verify quality, structural integrity, and adherence to specifications, and correct defects when necessary. • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following established workplace safety practices and using appropriate personal protective equipment. • Monitor production schedules and meet established deadlines while maintaining high standards of weld quality. • Collaborate with other welders, fabricators, and engineers to resolve fabrication issues and improve processes. • Remain aware of forklift traffic and material placement in the facility, working attentively to avoid hazards and ensure safe operations. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, IL 61109. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
