Job DescriptionThe Grinder Operator sets up and operates grinding equipment to produce precision parts to exact specifications. This role involves machine grinding, straightening parts, interpreting blueprints, and using measurement tools to maintain tight tolerances while working with a variety of materials such as metals, aluminum, and plastics. The Grinder Operator actively identifies and resolves issues to reduce scrap and ensure consistent, high-quality production.Responsibilities

• Set up grinding equipment and prepare machines to run centerless and surface grinding processes. • Perform machine grinding of parts to meet specified dimensions and finish requirements. • Straighten parts as needed to ensure they meet quality and dimensional specifications. • Measure parts using micrometers and calipers to verify adherence to tight tolerances. • Work with various materials including metals, aluminum, plastics, and other production materials. • Read and interpret basic blueprints to understand part specifications and grinding requirements. • Apply basic math skills, including working with decimals and fractions, to calculate measurements and adjustments. • Identify defects or issues with parts during and after grinding to minimize scrap and rework. • Perform general labor and production tasks associated with machine operation and machining processes. • Use hand tools and equipment such as angle grinders for deburring and finishing operations as needed. • Maintain a clean, organized machine shop area and follow facility guidelines for tidiness and safety. • Collaborate with team members and follow established procedures to ensure efficient production flow. • Learn and apply centerless grinding techniques under guidance, with the goal of becoming proficient in this specialty. • Operate forklifts or material handling equipment as required to move parts and materials within the facility. • Adhere to all safety protocols while operating grinding machines and related equipment. The work schedule follows a 4x10 structure, with standard hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and Friday handled on an as-needed or variable basis. Team members work in a machine shop environment using grinding equipment, machining tools, and related production machinery, with a focus on maintaining an orderly, well-kept workspace and supporting a culture of growth and long-term employment. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Wayne, IN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
