Job Title: Electro-Mechanical TechnicianJob DescriptionThe Electro-Mechanical Technician supports a strong safety culture while performing a wide range of instrument, mechanical, and electrical maintenance tasks in a food ingredients manufacturing environment. This role focuses on troubleshooting and repairing production equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring reliable operation of low, medium, and high voltage systems, PLCs, and field instrumentation. The technician uses SAP maintenance software, mobile equipment, and a variety of hand and shop tools to complete work efficiently, maintain good housekeeping, and support continuous improvement across the facility.Responsibilities
• Support and actively participate in a safety culture focused on zero injuries and illnesses by following all plant rules, safety requirements, and relevant standards such as SO and FSSC. • Perform daily maintenance assignments of an instrument, mechanical, or electrical nature, as well as special assignments requested by maintenance leadership and management. • Train across instrument, mechanical, and electrical disciplines to become fully proficient in troubleshooting equipment issues and performing repair work. • Maintain a clean and orderly work area by performing necessary cleaning tasks and practicing good housekeeping at all times. • Use the SAP maintenance management program to write notifications, create work orders, locate stock materials, and review equipment history. • Operate company mobile equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, and JLG machines, in a safe and efficient manner. • Replace electric motors, ensuring proper wiring, alignment, protection devices, and rotation are correctly set and verified. • Perform instrumentation tasks such as changing out field controllers, probes, automatic valves, and operators as needed. • Calibrate field instruments including flow meters, temperature probes, pH meters, density meters, pressure transmitters, level transmitters, and other field devices. • Perform welding and fabrication functions required to repair or modify equipment and components. • Operate lathes and milling machines to perform machining functions necessary for maintenance and repair activities. • Perform proper assembly and rigging functions to safely complete equipment repairs and installations. • Carry out alignment and balancing functions to ensure optimal performance and longevity of rotating equipment. • Use specialty hand and shop tools such as volt and amp meters, meggers, DC voltage equipment, hot sticks, static trip test sets, ground fault testers, drills, grinders, cut-off saws, and wrenches. • Prioritize and organize work to make efficient use of parts, tools, equipment, and manpower, determining appropriate resources for each assignment. • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections, safety inspections, and audits as assigned, and provide timely and accurate documentation of findings. • Troubleshoot PLC systems and diagnose issues in low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems, identifying and implementing appropriate repairs. • Interpret ladder diagrams and general control circuit systems, and review maintenance documentation for accuracy as required. • Communicate the status of daily assignments and maintenance activities to maintenance supervisors, planners, operations leads, engineers, value stream managers, and the maintenance manager as needed. • Respond to plant call-ins to troubleshoot instrument, electrical, or mechanical problems, and determine when additional assistance is required to complete repairs. • Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required by the production and maintenance schedule. Essential Skills
• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED. • Prior instrument, mechanical, and electrical maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. • Demonstrated effective troubleshooting methods and a track record of successful problem resolution. • Knowledgeable in the safe and proper use of hand and shop tools. • Ability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds, climb ladders, and work at heights. • Ability to learn new tasks and assignments with a demonstrated willingness to remain flexible and support change. • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance personnel. • Prior experience maintaining low, medium, and high voltage electrical equipment. • Prior experience maintaining analog and digital control systems. • Willingness and ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as the schedule requires. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Instrument Electrical Certification is a plus. • Working knowledge of SAP maintenance module is preferred. • Experience as an electro-mechanical technician, maintenance mechanic, or PLC technician is beneficial. • Familiarity with PLCs and AC/DC motors used in production equipment. • Comfort working with production machinery in a manufacturing environment. • Interest in expanding electrical knowledge and learning the electrical portions of machinery. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Belcamp, MD. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
