Shipping and Receiving Worker - 1st Shift $22/hrJob DescriptionThis role supports a growing local manufacturing operation in Indianapolis by managing the flow of materials and finished products through the shipping and receiving area. The Shipping and Receiving Worker ensures that incoming materials are received and stored correctly, outgoing orders are prepared accurately, and inventory is maintained in an organized and efficient manner to support production departments, especially welding and fabrication.Responsibilities
• Receive, unload, and process incoming shipments in a timely and accurate manner. • Verify incoming materials against documentation and store them in proper locations within the warehouse. • Build and secure pallets for outbound shipments to ensure safe transport. • Pick and pack (kitting) orders accurately and efficiently for use in other departments, primarily the weld and fabrication department. • Prepare, stage, and organize products for shipment according to shipping schedules and requirements. • Conduct regular cycle counts and inventory checks, and reconcile any variances in stock levels. • Maintain cleanliness and organization in inventory storage areas and on the loading dock. • Load and unload trucks safely using appropriate material handling equipment. • Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and sit-down forklifts in a safe and responsible manner. • Use tablets, RF scanners, and related technology to track inventory, process orders, and update records. • Follow bills of materials (BOM) and shipping documentation to ensure accurate material handling. • Support general warehouse inventory management and material handling activities as needed. Essential Skills
• Proven experience in shipping and receiving operations in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. • Hands-on experience with material handling, including loading and unloading trucks. • Ability to operate pallet jacks and sit-down forklifts safely and efficiently. • Experience performing cycle counts and basic inventory reconciliation. • Ability to use RF scanners and tablets for inventory tracking and order processing. • Familiarity with kitting, including accurate picking and packing of materials for internal departments. • Understanding of bills of materials (BOM) and basic warehouse documentation. • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in shipping, receiving, and inventory tasks. • Ability to work efficiently on a first-shift schedule in a fast-paced environment. • Physical capability to lift, move, and organize materials and pallets as required. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Previous experience as a shipping and staging associate or material handler. • Experience in warehouse inventory management within a manufacturing job shop. • Comfort working closely with weld and fabrication departments to support their material needs. • Ability to maintain an organized workspace and contribute to continuous improvement in warehouse processes. The work involves active material handling, loading and unloading trucks, and moving pallets within a well-maintained production and warehouse environment. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
