Job Title: Maintenance Technician IIJob DescriptionThe Maintenance Technician II supports the operations maintenance team by repairing, maintaining, and improving material handling and pneumatic systems throughout a large automated distribution facility. This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing automated packaging and distribution equipment, including high-speed conveyor and robotic systems, while ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all material handling equipment. Responsibilities • Install, inspect, repair, and maintain material handling equipment such as automated conveyor systems and related components. • Perform preventive maintenance routines on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, following established documentation and procedures. • Complete and maintain accurate preventive maintenance (PM) sheets, logs, and other required maintenance records. • Perform battery changes and preventive maintenance on batteries used in facility equipment. • Enter equipment downtime data into daily logs and ensure all maintenance activities are properly recorded. • Manage and close work orders within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic issues on material handling and robotic equipment. • Apply basic electrical knowledge to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues with motors, controls, and other electrical components. • Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to support installation, maintenance, and repair tasks. • Track, store, and manage department inventory, including spare parts and maintenance supplies. • Follow and demonstrate safety standards and procedures in accordance with equipment manufacturers and facility safety guidelines. • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability, performance, and safety. • Troubleshoot basic input and output functions of building operations and PLC-based control systems. • Assist with the operation and maintenance of robotic systems and automated equipment as needed. Essential Skills • 2+ years of experience in the repair of material handling equipment (MHE) or automated conveyor systems and controls. • 2+ years of experience reading and working from blueprints and electrical schematics. • 2+ years of knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical and electronic principles. • 2+ years of experience following and demonstrating safety standards in an industrial or maintenance environment. • 1+ year of experience in troubleshooting and diagnostics of MHE systems. • 1+ year of experience using Microsoft Office products and applications. • Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions of building operations systems. • Experience working with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). • Experience with MHE safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidelines and safety standards. • 2+ years of experience working with PLC-based control systems. • Experience with automated conveyor systems, robotics, and material handling equipment. • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems. • Ability to complete preventive maintenance on hydraulic systems, pneumatics, motors, and related components. • Strong continuous improvement mindset and willingness to learn and grow. • Comfort with performance being tracked through data and metrics to ensure expectations are met. • Physical ability to walk significant distances (approximately 10,000 steps per day) and lift up to 49 pounds as part of regular duties. • Openness to working any 10-hour shift as needed by the facility. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Associate degree or higher from a vocational school or college with a focus in mechanical or electrical fields. • 2+ years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in mechanical or electrical disciplines. • Experience with robotic operation and maintenance in an automated environment. • Experience working in large distribution or manufacturing facilities with high-speed automation equipment. • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, OEM manuals, and safety procedures. • Strong organizational skills for tracking inventory, spare parts, and maintenance records. • Effective communication skills to collaborate with operations and maintenance teams. • Demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving automated systems. The position requires comfort with walking long distances (around 10,000 steps per day) and lifting up to 49 pounds regularly. Candidates must be open to working any 10-hour shift, as positions are available across multiple schedules. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Suffolk, VA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.50 - $32.50/hr.
