Electromechanical Assembler - Sorrento Valley - 1st Shift - $26/hr-$30/hrJob DescriptionThis role combines electromechanical assembly, wiring and cable harnessing, quality inspection, and functional testing of electronic subassemblies. You will follow detailed computer-based work instructions, assemble and wire modules and PCBAs by hand using a variety of tools, load firmware, run test scripts, and document every step of the manufacturing process in a manufacturing execution system to maintain complete electronic device history records.Responsibilities
• Assemble electromechanical subassemblies by following detailed computer-based work instructions with no deviation from the build plan. • Use a manufacturing execution system (MES), currently 42Q, to open work instructions, track tasks, and document each step of the manufacturing process. • Perform mechanical assembly and wire and cable harness assembly for modules and PCBAs using hand and small power tools. • Connect wires and harnesses to modules and printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) according to specifications and build plans. • Use tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, torque wrenches, wire strippers, crimpers, needle nose pliers, and small power tools to complete assembly tasks. • Install firmware onto PCBAs by opening the appropriate program on a laptop and running scripts to upload firmware. • Conduct functional testing by selecting the correct test area of the device, entering test codes, and running scripts to verify proper operation. • Attach cables to subassemblies, load the appropriate programs, and run scripts to perform tests and verify performance. • Interpret software test results, including pass/fail indications, and respond appropriately to failures. • Troubleshoot test failures and defects by identifying the source of errors, performing repairs or corrections, and re-testing until the unit passes. • Document verification steps in the MES by selecting the area to be verified, generating verification numbers, and entering them into the system. • Perform inspection and quality checks on assembled subassemblies to ensure they meet specifications and standards. • Use electronic test and measurement equipment, such as oscilloscopes, during troubleshooting and verification activities. • Collaborate closely with senior technicians and other team members to resolve complex issues and align on troubleshooting approaches. • Participate in daily 7:00 AM stand-up meetings to receive work assignments, discuss build plans, and align on daily goals. • Work closely with a senior technician during the training period, shadowing, receiving coaching, and applying feedback to improve performance. • Follow all ESD, safety, and quality procedures, including wearing required lab coats and safety glasses. • Maintain clear and professional communication with teammates and leaders regarding build progress, issues, and troubleshooting steps. • Support continuous improvement by sharing insights on recurring issues and suggesting improvements to processes or documentation where appropriate. Essential Skills
• Proven experience with electromechanical sub-assembly work, including both mechanical and electrical assembly tasks. • Demonstrated experience in testing and troubleshooting electronic or electromechanical devices in previous roles. • Ability to follow detailed work instructions exactly as written, with no deviation from the build plan. • Strong computer proficiency, including the ability to navigate software, open and close multiple work instructions, and work entirely from computer-based documentation. • Experience using a manufacturing execution system (MES), such as 42Q, to enter data, track work, and maintain device history records. • Proficiency with hand and small power tools, including screwdrivers, wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, torque wrenches, and needle nose pliers. • Hands-on experience with wiring, wire harness assembly, crimping, and electronic assembly. • Ability to perform functional testing, load programs, and run scripts to verify device performance. • Troubleshooting skills with the ability to describe a clear, structured troubleshooting process used when defects or errors are found. • Familiarity with basic electronic test practices and equipment, such as oscilloscopes, for diagnostics and verification. • Strong communication skills for explaining troubleshooting steps, collaborating with team members, and participating in daily meetings. • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work closely in a tight, collaborative environment and contribute to shared build goals. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Previous experience in an electromechanical manufacturing or assembly environment with sub-assembly work. • Experience documenting work in electronic systems and maintaining accurate electronic device history records. • Comfort using Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams daily for communication and coordination. • Ability to work effectively with senior technicians and supervisors, seeking guidance and applying feedback. • Strong attention to detail and quality, especially when following complex build plans and test procedures. • Ability to adapt to different areas of the operation, including transitioning to new work areas after an initial training period. • Proactive approach to learning new systems, tools, and processes in a start-up environment. Lab coats and safety glasses are required as part of the standard dress code. The team works closely together in a tight workspace to meet build plans and production goals. The standard work schedule is Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, with an initial training period of approximately two months on a different schedule while you shadow and work alongside a senior technician. There is a daily 7:00 AM stand-up meeting that you will participate in to receive assignments and align on priorities. After approximately three months, you will transition to another area, broadening your experience within the operation. All work is performed using computers and the MES system, and you will rely on laptops and electronic tools throughout your day. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
