Job Title: Mechanical Assembler 1st Shift WeekdaysJob DescriptionThis role focuses on assembling large cooling units and related mechanical components in a clean, temperature-controlled manufacturing environment. You will use hand and power tools to build and pipe metal and copper tubing, perform basic mechanical assembly, and ensure products meet customer specifications. The position offers hands-on training, steady weekday hours, and the opportunity to grow within a large, expanding facility. Responsibilities • Build and assemble large cooling units according to customer specifications and visual aids. • Perform metal framing, copper tubing work, piping, drilling holes, and metal tubing assembly as required. • Utilize hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete standardized and repetitive assembly operations. • Manually assemble inserted components per visual aids, verifying specifications before and after assembly. • Inspect parts and assemblies to ensure work was performed correctly, using visual inspection techniques. • Apply basic mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot simple issues during assembly and coordinate with teammates when tasks require multiple team members. • Follow written and verbal directions from leads, diagrams, schematics, and standardized procedures. • Utilize manual and automated lifting devices and perform heavy lifting, including team lifts, while adhering to product safety specifications. • Coordinate tasks with other manufacturing staff to fulfill customer requirements, including box build and/or coating activities. • Organize and maintain spare parts inventory and order spare parts as needed to fulfill customer orders. • Keep up to date on spare parts inventory locations to ensure efficient order fulfillment. • Assist with maintaining area organization and 5S attributes to support a clean and efficient work environment. • Participate in cross-functional meetings, provide information on issues, and help drive corrective actions. • Perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and tools as directed. • Work under direct, close supervision, following routine, standardized procedures and escalating complex issues when needed. • Respond effectively to conflicting deadlines, changing priorities, and continuous interruptions while maintaining quality standards. • Work overtime as required to meet production and customer demands. • Label finished units and components accurately in accordance with production and quality requirements. Essential Skills • Previous assembly experience in a manufacturing environment. • Ability to follow written and verbal directions from leads, diagrams, and visual aids. • Comfort working with hand tools and power tools in a production setting. • Basic mechanical aptitude for assembly and troubleshooting. • Ability to read and write to understand work instructions and diagrams. • Capability to perform visual inspection to verify correct assembly and product quality. • Ability to perform heavy lifting, including team lifts, and use manual lifting devices safely. • Willingness and ability to work MondayThursday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime as required. • Ability to work under direct supervision and follow standardized procedures consistently. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with mechanical assembly, production, and assembly line work. • Familiarity with blueprints and ability to read basic schematics is strongly preferred. • Electrical knowledge and experience with basic electrical troubleshooting are a plus. • Experience with tubing work, including copper and metal tubing, and related repair activities. • Experience organizing spare parts inventories and supporting 5S or similar workplace organization programs. • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and multiple deadlines. Work EnvironmentThe role is based in an extremely clean, temperature-controlled manufacturing site with potential expansion into a multi-million square foot campus. Work is performed on a weekday 1st shift schedule, Monday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime as needed. The environment includes the use of hand and power tools, manual and automated lifting devices, and mechanical assembly equipment. A break room is available for employees, and ride share options support commuting. Steel toe shoes are required as part of the dress code, and no additional certifications are needed to work in this environment. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
