About this role

Job Title: Industrial WelderJob DescriptionThis role focuses on fitting and welding large industrial piping and structural steel to ASME Section IX standards in support of high-performance data center construction. You will contribute directly to the buildout of next-generation AI supercomputing infrastructure, working closely with mechanical, structural, electrical, and operations teams from initial construction through system turnover. Responsibilities • Fit, tack, and weld large-bore industrial piping and structural steel, including pipe racks, platforms, supports, skids, and related assemblies, in accordance with drawings and ASME Section IX welding procedure specifications (WPS). • Lay out, cut, bevel, grind, and align joints, checking fit-up, root opening, and reinforcement before and after welding to ensure quality and compliance with specifications. • Read and interpret isometric, spool, and structural drawings, and work to weld maps, heat numbers, and rod-control or continuity requirements where applicable. • Support installation and hanging of strut, supports, hangers, and structural members, and assist with equipment setting and bolt-up as needed to complete weld packages. • Stage, move, and inventory pipe, fittings, structural members, filler metal, and tools, maintaining organized laydown yards and orderly work areas. • Open and close work areas each shift, including setting up protection, performing fire watch activities, managing hot-work permits, removing debris, segregating scrap, and resetting the area so the next crew can start work immediately. • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), personal protective equipment (PPE), hot-work, and site safety rules, and refrain from welding on live or unpurged systems without proper authorization. • Report damaged materials, rejected welds, unsafe conditions, and drawing conflicts promptly to ensure issues are addressed quickly and safely. • Support punch-list completion, weld repair work, and non-destructive examination (NDE) hold-point activities through system turnover. Essential Skills • Journey-level industrial construction welding experience, typically 3+ years welding large industrial piping and/or structural steel, completion of a recognized welding apprenticeship, or equivalent military experience. • Hands-on experience with GTAW (TIG) on stainless steel and/or SMAW (stick) on carbon steel. • Current ASME Section IX qualification (such as 6G) in GTAW on stainless and/or SMAW on carbon, or the ability to pass a pre-employment weld test to ASME Section IX in the processes and positions used on site. • AWS D1.1 structural welding qualification or equivalent. • Ability to read and interpret isometric, spool, and structural drawings accurately. • Ability to use welding machines, torches, grinders, and related hand and power tools safely and effectively. • Strong safety mindset with a consistent willingness to follow site procedures, including hot-work permits and lockout/tagout (LOTO) requirements. • Experience welding large-bore process, mechanical, or utility piping and heavy structural members. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience working on data center, industrial, or heavy-civil construction sites. • Willingness to work at heights and outdoors on a dynamic data center construction site. • Familiarity with weld maps, heat numbers, and rod-control or continuity tracking processes. • Ability to maintain organized work areas, laydown yards, and material inventories. • Attention to detail in joint preparation, fit-up verification, and weld quality checks. Work EnvironmentThis position is based on an active data center construction site, working with large industrial piping and structural steel in both indoor and outdoor conditions. You will regularly use welding machines, torches, grinders, and other hand and power tools, and may work at heights and in changing weather. The role requires adherence to strict site safety protocols, including PPE usage, hot-work permits, and lockout/tagout procedures. Work areas, laydown yards, and material storage must remain orderly and well-maintained to support efficient construction operations. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Southaven, MS. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $60.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
