This role directly engages with turbines, pumps, rotating equipment, and associated mechanical systems to ensure maximum reliability, efficiency, and uptime of the facility. The position requires mechanical aptitude, strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety in a critical infrastructure environment.Responsibilities
• Operate, monitor, inspect, and maintain power generation equipment and supporting plant systems. • Perform routine rounds and inspections of turbines, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, cooling systems, and associated rotating equipment. • Monitor operating conditions and respond to abnormal equipment performance or system alarms. • Troubleshoot mechanical equipment failures and identify root causes of operational issues. • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on plant equipment. • Maintain and repair pumps, valves, bearings, seals, gearboxes, conveyors, motors, and other industrial mechanical systems. • Support turbine startup, shutdown, and operational activities while ensuring safe and reliable system performance. • Conduct equipment inspections and document findings, deficiencies, and corrective actions. • Utilize hand tools, precision measuring devices, and diagnostic equipment to identify and repair mechanical issues. • Assist with vibration analysis, lubrication activities, alignment checks, and condition monitoring programs. • Read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and operating procedures. • Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and site requirements. • Support maintenance outages, equipment overhauls, and system upgrades. • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to improve plant reliability and performance. • Maintain accurate maintenance records, shift logs, and equipment documentation. • Respond to emergency situations and support critical facility recovery efforts as required. Essential Skills
• 5+ years of experience operating and/or maintaining industrial mechanical equipment. • Strong understanding of pumps, turbines, compressors, motors, valves, and rotating equipment. • Mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving experience. • Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance activities. • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation. • Familiarity with industrial safety practices and Lockout/Tagout procedures. • Proficient with common hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment. • Ability to work independently while maintaining a strong focus on safety and reliability. • Strong communication and teamwork skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Experience operating gas turbine or turbine-generator systems. • Power plant operations or maintenance experience. • Mechanical, Industrial Maintenance, Power Generation, or Process Technology certification. • Experience with predictive maintenance programs including vibration analysis and condition-based monitoring. • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, cooling water, and fluid handling systems. • Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems). • Familiarity with critical infrastructure, data centers, or utility-scale power generation facilities. • Military experience operating or maintaining power generation or industrial mechanical equipment. • Ability to support rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and emergency call-outs as needed. • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and work in industrial environments for extended periods. • Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and varying environmental conditions. • Ability to wear required PPE, including hearing protection, respirators, and fall protection equipment when required. • Ability to safely work around heavy industrial and rotating machinery.
