About this role

Job Title: MachinistJob DescriptionThe machinist operates manual and CNC equipment to produce precision parts, performing setups, adjustments, and inspections to ensure high-quality, accurate components. This role combines hands-on machining, routine equipment maintenance, and careful use of precision measuring tools to meet production and quality standards. Responsibilities • Perform machine setups on manual and CNC mills and lathes, including selecting and installing appropriate tooling and fixtures. • Execute tool changes and make program adjustments on CNC equipment as needed to maintain part accuracy and production efficiency. • Operate manual machines, including manual lathes and mills, to produce precision parts according to specifications and blueprints. • Carry out precision grinding operations to achieve required dimensions, finishes, and tolerances. • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to determine machining operations, dimensions, and tolerances. • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators to verify conformance to specifications. • Calibrate and verify measuring instruments and equipment to ensure accurate inspections and consistent quality. • Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and basic troubleshooting, to keep equipment in safe and reliable operating condition. • Monitor machining processes and adjust feeds, speeds, and tooling to optimize performance and minimize scrap. • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following shop safety procedures and best practices. Essential Skills • Hands-on experience operating manual lathes and manual mills. • Experience operating CNC mills as a machinist, including basic program adjustments. • Proficiency in machine setup, including tooling selection, workholding, and alignment. • Ability to perform precision grinding to tight tolerances. • Strong blueprint reading skills to interpret dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements. • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators. • Ability to perform calibration checks on measuring tools and equipment. • Knowledge of routine machine maintenance practices to support equipment reliability. • Attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality parts. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Background as a mill machinist with experience on vertical or horizontal milling machines. • Background as a lathe machinist with experience turning parts to precise dimensions. • Experience in machine setup across a variety of manual and CNC equipment. • Familiarity with shop documentation, including work instructions and basic process sheets. Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a shop environment operating manual and CNC mills and lathes, along with precision grinding equipment and standard measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators. Work is performed on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, providing regular daytime hours. The setting is hands-on and production-focused, with an emphasis on safe machine operation, proper use of tools, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. Typical shop attire is required to ensure safety and practicality while working around machinery. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Conyers, GA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
