About this role

Job summary NELFT January 2027 cohort studying at Anglia Ruskin University.

NELFTinvites applicants who arequalified nurses to undertake the above course. Candidates must hold:

NMC Registration for nursing or midwifery Evidence of applying for NMC registration and confirmed NMC registration within 2 months of the start date. Students will have the course paid for will receive a salary - external applicants mid-point Band 5 , internal applicants will remain the same salary Please note - When submitting applications please make sure you indicate at the top of your personal statement your preferences regarding health visiting or school nursing Interviews for ARU University Chelmsford and will take place during September and a 10 minute presentation will be part of the interview process. Interview panels will consist of HEI, Trust representation, and service users Candidates invited to interview must provide: Evidence of recent study. this course will be at Level 7 training ID

Main duties of the job The responsibilities of the post holder are to attain the academic credentials and the clinical skills required to practice as a NMC registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse on a defined pathway. See below: To fulfil the requirements of the Specialist Community Practitioner programme by attending university and practice placement days in accordance with University regulations With support of the Specialist Community Practice Teacher to link the theoretical knowledge gained through the university programme to the practice situation To show an understanding of current and emerging healthcare legislation, policies and guidelines as they pertain to chosen pathway To develop/build on skills of caseload and team leadership and management To work within University Regulations pertaining to academic work and student conduct, and in line with NELFT Policies and Procedures. To work within employing organisation policies as they pertain to the relevant clinical setting To work within employing organisation policies relating to employee responsibilities The student will be expected to have acquired the knowledge and skills to undertake all components of the Health Visitor /School Nursing duties and responsibilities, by the end of the course. This will be quantified by assessments of competence, learning outcomes and sign off as fit to practice as a registered Health Visitor/School nurse by their Community Practice Teacher to the NMC.

Here at NELFT Health Visitors and School Nurses are leading the way in transforming services for children and families. We currently have teams of dedicated and talented Specialist Community Public Health Practitioners who are out in communities pioneering a new, holistic, and inclusive approach to 0-19 Children’s Universal and Early Intervention services.

As a Super Training Hub, we strive for excellence in learning and innovation in practice and delivery of safe, quality, and compassionate care. We have strong partnerships with Education Institutes which enable us to celebrate Health Visiting and School Nursing practice.

To ensure all our student SCPHN practitioners receive the best possible learning environment NELFT have a robust model of learning practice with dedicated Practice assessors and practice supervisors.

Starting with NELFT NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes, Essex.

Probationary Period This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High Cost Area Supplement – Fringe (Basildon, Thurrock, Brentwood, Harlow and Dartford only) This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,303 to a maximum of £2,198 p.a. pro rata for part time)
