Main duties of the job
The Primary MHTR service provides psychological intervention to people coming into contact with the criminal justice system who are granted a mental health treatment requirement as part of a community order. The Assistant Psychologist (MHTR Practitioner) role is central to assessing suitability and offering brief interventions to this client group, under the supervision of a Principal Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical Lead).
The team, with support of criminal justice partners and colleagues, aims to divert people away from the criminal justice system and short custodial sentences, and reduce reoffending via improving access to psychological interventions by addressing underlying unmet needs.

Skills Essential
Car driver to have access to independent means of transport for work purposes and willingness to travel to locations throughout the organisation
Qualifications Essential
Good Honours undergraduate degree (with GBC) in Psychology
Experience Essential
Relevant experience in psychological difficulties such as anxiety and depression. Experience of working with people within mental health services Evidence of working in a service where agreed targets are in place, demonstrating clinical outcomes
Skills Essential
Ability to manage own clinical practice, caseload and time, with supervision Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, relating to complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
