Business Education/Computer Science Teacher Career and Technical Education - Alexander Central High School
General Statement of Job Alexander County Schools is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Career and Technical Education Business and Computer Science Teacher to provide engaging, career-focused instruction that prepares students for success in college, careers, and the workforce. This position will teach courses within the Business, Finance, Information Technology, and/or Computer Science program areas based on licensure, student needs, and course offerings. The successful candidate will create hands-on, real-world learning experiences that develop students' technical knowledge, digital literacy, problem-solving abilities, and workplace readiness skills. The teacher will connect classroom instruction to current business and technology practices while preparing students for industry-recognized credentials and future education and career opportunities. Required Education and Licensure
• Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator's License in 760 – Business, Finance, and Information Technology Education.
• Bachelor's or Associate degree in a related field. (2 years work experience required with Bachelor's degree or 4 years work experience required with Associate degree)
• Related degrees may include Accounting, Administrative Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Information Technology, Management, Management Information Systems (MIS), Marketing, Financial Services Informatics, Organizational Management, International Business, Business Analytics, Finance and Banking, Risk Management and Insurance, Mathematics for Business, Information and Computer Technology, Economics, International Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, or Project Management.
• Related work experience may include accounting, finance, banking, business or operations management, marketing, sales, information technology, computer programming, systems analysis, database administration, web design, e-commerce, project management, business analysis, human resources, public relations, communications, or previous teaching or training experience in business, finance, information technology, or computer science.
• Candidates entering through an alternative or residency licensure pathway must meet applicable North Carolina licensure requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide engaging instruction in business, finance, information technology, computer science, and related courses.
• Develop instruction aligned with NC CTE standards, course requirements, and industry expectations.
• Provide hands-on, project-based learning that connects classroom content to real-world careers.
• Integrate current technology, software, and digital tools into instruction.
• Prepare students for applicable industry-recognized credentials and certifications.
• Develop workplace readiness skills, including communication, collaboration, problem solving, professionalism, and digital citizenship.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and productive classroom/computer lab environment.
• Assess student progress, differentiate instruction, and maintain required student records.
• Collaborate with school staff, CTE colleagues, postsecondary partners, and business and industry partners.
• Support career exploration, work-based learning, and CTSO activities such as DECA, as applicable.
• Participate in professional development to remain current with industry and instructional practices.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal or CTE Director.

• Knowledge of or willingness to learn NC CTE standards, curriculum, and credentialing requirements.
• Proficiency with computers, software, digital applications, and instructional technology.
• Strong classroom management, organization, communication, and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to build positive student relationships and maintain high expectations.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, postsecondary institutions, and business and industry partners.
• Commitment to preparing students for postsecondary education, employment, and career success.
