Job summary
The successful candidate will lead the clinical development and delivery of our neurodevelopmental assessment pathway, ensuring high standards of clinical governance, service quality and patient experience.
Main duties of the job
You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team and operational leaders to support service development, enhance efficiency, drive clinical excellence and ensure assessments remain compliant with current NICE guidance and professional standards.
This role offers the opportunity to shape and influence service delivery within an ambitious and expanding organisation committed to improving access to neurodevelopmental assessment and support.
The post holder will have oversight of diagnostic decision-making across autism, and ADHD, complex differential diagnosis and formulation, clinical risk, safeguarding, supervision, clinical governance, pathway design and quality assurance across both children and adult services.

Clinical Leadership
Provide strategic and operational clinical leadership across Montrose Health Group's neurodevelopmental services.Lead the continuous development of autism and ADHD assessment pathways for children, young people and adults.Ensure all assessments and clinical interventions are evidence-based and compliant with NICE guidelines and relevant professional standards.Act as the clinical expert for complex neurodevelopmental presentations.Support high-quality clinical decision-making and risk management across the service.Promote a neuro-affirmative, person-centered approach to assessment and support.Service Development and Quality
Lead service improvement initiatives to enhance clinical quality, efficiency and patient outcomes.Develop innovative models of care to improve access and reduce waiting times.Monitor service performance against agreed clinical and operational KPIs.Lead clinical audits, quality improvement projects and service evaluations.Ensure robust clinical governance processes are maintained.Contribute to organisational growth, service expansion and business development opportunities.Team Leadership
Provide clinical supervision and professional support to multidisciplinary clinicians.Support recruitment, onboarding and development of clinical staff.Foster a positive, inclusive and collaborative team culture.Deliver training, mentoring and professional development activities.Promote staff wellbeing and clinical excellence.Stakeholder Engagement
Build effective relationships with schools, local authorities, NHS partners, commissioners and other external agencies.Represent Montrose Health Group at professional forums and stakeholder meetings.Provide expert advice and consultation to internal and external stakeholders.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, or equivalent recognised qualification. HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist. Significant post-qualification experience, including specialist neurodevelopmental practice. Evidence of relevant continuing professional development.
Desirable
Leadership or management qualification. ADOS-2 and/or ADI-R training.
Candidate will demonstrate Essential
Advanced knowledge of autism, ADHD and wider neurodevelopmental conditions. Comprehensive understanding of NICE guidance and clinical best practice. Strong leadership and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. Advanced clinical assessment and diagnostic skills. Ability to analyse complex clinical information and make evidence-based decisions. Strong organisational, project management and change management skills. Commitment to person-centered and neuro-affirmative practice.
Experience Essential
Provide clinical governance and diagnostic oversight across the MDT Substantial post-qualification experience in neurodevelopmental assessment and differential diagnosis, including complex presentations and co-occurring mental health, developmental and learning needs. Senior clinical leadership experience within healthcare services. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams. Experience implementing service improvement initiatives. Experience managing complex clinical risk and safeguarding concerns. Experience providing supervision, mentoring and support to other clinicians. Experience supporting both children and adult neurodevelopmental pathways.
Desirable
Independent sector healthcare experience. Experience working with commissioned services. Experience of business growth, service expansion or pathway redesign.
