About this role

Summary The Residential Care Counselor is responsible for providing a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for children in a residential treatment setting. As a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team, this role helps develop, implement, monitor, and document individualized treatment plans while supporting children in their daily routines and overall well-being. Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety, supervision, and care of assigned children. • Maintain a therapeutic and structured residential environment. • Assist in developing, implementing, and updating individualized treatment plans. • Monitor and document child observations, behaviors, and treatment progress. • Support children with daily living activities, personal hygiene, and life skills. • Build positive therapeutic relationships with children and families. • Participate in admissions, assessments, treatment team meetings, and shift reports. • Communicate treatment goals and progress with team members and other care providers. • Respond to behavioral challenges and crisis situations using approved intervention techniques. • Report and document critical incidents in a timely and accurate manner. • Help develop and implement behavioral management strategies. • Organize and participate in therapeutic, recreational, and program activities. • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating appropriate and therapeutic interactions. • Follow all hospital, departmental, and program policies and procedures. • Maintain required certifications and complete ongoing staff development and training. • Bachelor's degree in a Human Services-related field preferred. Equivalent education and experience may be considered. • Six months to one year of direct care experience working with children or adolescents with emotional or behavioral health needs. • Knowledge of child development, behavioral health, and culturally responsive care. • Current or eligible for: Bradley Hospital Crisis Management Certification CPR Certification ERS, Safety, and OSHA Certifications Supervisory Responsibility
