About this role

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Highly Specialized Applied Psychologist tojoin our mental health services and contribute to making a meaningful impact on the lives of older people and their families. This post offers the successful candidate the opportunity to develop a range of skills both embedded in a multi-disciplinary team and as part of a wider group of Psychological Therapies staff. Suitable candidates should be a suitably qualified psychologist and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.You will contribute to the timely delivery of specialist psychological assessment and treatment, and/or neuropsychological assessments, across a range of care settings. The postholder will be based in at least one CMHT but will provide clinical input across the wider Doncaster Care Group CMHTs (as part of a wider psychology hub) and as service needs require. We are keen to hear from anyone who has a passion for working in a trauma informed way with older people experiencing complex mental health challenges and/or neurodegenerative conditions, and has a collaborative, team-orientated approach.

Main duties of the job

Deliver trauma-informed and evidence-based interventions, consultations, and psychological and neuro-psychological assessments.

Provide psychological input to multi-agency risk management / treatment plans.

Offer consultation, supervision, and training to colleagues and external agencies to promote psychological understanding.

Contribute to service delivery, development and quality improvement initiatives.

Experience Essential

Working as an applied psychologist within the designated service including a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and a range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings. Exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care as a key worker/care coordinator, and leader of a multidisciplinary team Liaison and joint working with statutory, voluntary and private sector agencies Teaching, training, clinical supervision and field supervisor for doctoral theses (2) Research and development Active participation in quality and service improvement initiatives Commitment to multi-disciplinary working

Desirable

Experience in the designated clinical specialism Project Management Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts

Knowledge Essential

Evidence- based practice relevant to the role, e.g., older adult needs, complex emotional needs, neurodegenerative conditions Risk assessment and risk management Clinical governance Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health and its implications for clinical practice Audit and research methodology Social Inclusion agenda Knowledge of the Trust's Quality Improvement System

Qualifications Essential

Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS HCPC registered as practitioner psychologist Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees (Essential at Band 8a Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

Post doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice, e.g., EMDR, Schema, neuropsychology, DBT, CFT Registration with BPS

Skills Essential

Communicate highly complex, highly sensitive and contentious information effectively, to a wide range of people Adapt creatively the evidence base for interventions in mental health for clients with communication difficulties / learning disabilities Articulate the value added by applied psychology services within the context of multidisciplinary mental health and learning disability healthcare provision Undertake complex multiagency working and liaise with multiple systems Utilise psychometric and neuropsychometric tests competently Provide effective teaching, training and clinical supervision for the multidisciplinary team Identify, provide and promote appropriate interventions / means of support for carers and staff exposed to highly distressing situations and challenging behaviours Utilise appropriate clinical governance mechanisms within own work Use approved breakaway techniques Demonstrate effective keyboard skills Use multimedia materials for presentations in professional, academic and public settings
