About this role

Job summary The Admiral Nurse (Band 6) will deliver relationship-centred dementia care within ST MARYS HOSPICE and across the local community, supporting people with dementia and their families during palliative and end-of-life stages.

Main duties of the job St. Marys Hospice is a charity providing specialist palliative and supportive care for people living with advancing illness and their families. We have two main bases: the hospice building in Ulverston and the St Marys Hospice Community Hub in Barrow-in-Furness, and we also deliver care in a variety of community settings, bringing support closer to where people live. The hospice aims to enable and support people with advancing illness to live their lives as fully as possible, with an emphasis on quality of life, individualised care, and a family-centred approach. Services include an 8-bedded In-Patient Unit, Hospice at Home Service, Family & Bereavement Support Service, Wellbeing Service, community outreach and education programs, and specialist training. The Band 6 Admiral Nurse will play a key role in developing and delivering community-based outreach, supporting families and carers, and strengthening links with local organisations to improve access to hospice services.

Admiral Nurse- Dementia Specialist Nurse

(Band 6)

£20.93 per hour

37.5 hours per week

The Admiral Nurse (Band 6) will deliver and support the coordination of relationship-centred dementia care within the Compassionate Community Team and wider Hospice services, working under the direction of the Band 7 Admiral Nurse. With a strong focus on supporting people living with dementia and their families in the South Lakes community, the post holder will work in partnership with key groups and organisations to improve the quality and experience of palliative and end-of-life care.

Dementia UK will support you to maintain and strengthen your clinical expertise as a specialist Admiral Nurse through regular clinical supervision and practice and professional development opportunities. Youll become a welcome part of a network of Admiral Nurses, and will have the opportunity to access relevant post-graduate training and develop professionally, informed by the Admiral Nurse Competency Framework.
