We are seeking a highly organised and motivated GP Practice Manager to oversee the day-to-day operational running of our busy and patient-focused practice. This is a key leadership role, ensuring the smooth delivery of services, regulatory compliance, and high standards of patient care.

Main duties of the job

Lead and manage all aspects of practice operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness across administrative and clinical support functionsEnsure full compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, policies, and governance frameworksOversee contract adherence, including NHS contractual obligations and service delivery requirementsManage and support practice staff, including recruitment, performance management, and trainingHandle patient complaints and feedback, ensuring timely resolution and continuous service improvementDevelop and implement practice policies and proceduresManage budgets, financial performance, and resource allocation in collaboration with partnersMaintain accurate records and reporting systemsSupport strategic planning and service development initiatives

Role SummaryThe Practice Manager is responsible for the overall operational leadership and management of the practice, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality services to patients. The postholder will oversee all aspects of business performance, regulatory compliance, staff management, and financial sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

Oversee the day-to-day running of the practice, ensuring smooth and efficient operationsDevelop, implement, and monitor practice policies and proceduresEnsure effective use of systems, resources, and workforce planningLead on service improvement and practice development initiativesContracts & Network Working

Manage and monitor all contracts, including NHS and enhanced servicesEnsure full adherence to contractual requirements and performance targetsAct as the main point of contact for Primary Care Network (PCN) engagement and collaborative workingSupport the practice in meeting network objectives and participating in shared servicesCompliance & CQC Regulations

Ensure the practice remains fully compliant with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and other regulatory requirementsMaintain up-to-date policies, risk assessments, and governance frameworksLead on inspections, audits, and quality assurance processesPromote a culture of continuous quality improvement and patient safetyFinance & Business Management

Oversee practice finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reportingMonitor income and expenditure to ensure financial sustainabilityManage payroll, supplier contracts, and procurement processesIdentify opportunities for cost efficiency and income generationHuman Resources

Previous experience working in a primary care or general practice setting is desirable.

Essential -Good standard of general education (GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths) -Evidence of continuous professional development -Management experience (qualification or equivalent practical experience)

Desirable -AMSPAR Diploma Level 5 qualification -Degree or equivalent qualification (e.g. Business Management, Healthcare Management) -Recognised management qualification (e.g. ILM, NVQ Level 4/5 in Leadership & Management) -Qualification or training in healthcare/primary care management Knowledge or training related to CQC, HR, or financial management
