Research Assistant Professor (26270218)
The School of Chinese Medicine (SCM) at Hong Kong Baptist University is seeking a high-calibre Research Assistant Professor to join the Hong Kong Calculus Bovis Research Centre (CBRC). We are particularly interested in a candidate who can bridge the gap between traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and modern immunology to spearhead the scientific modernisation of TCM.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct high-quality and innovative research to elucidate the immunological and pharmacological mechanisms of Calculus Bovis and related natural components, applying cutting-edge techniques from mucosal immunology and innate immune signalling; • Lead and participate in multiple interdisciplinary R&D projects to drive the translational development of TCM-based drug candidates, leveraging your expertise in modulating immune responses for therapeutic benefit; • Transfer academic knowledge into innovative technologies for impactful research outputs, for instance, by exploring TCM components as novel immune adjuvants or modulators; • Supervise junior researchers and students in projects that integrate natural product chemistry with advanced immunological assays; and • Undertake any other duties as assigned to advance the Centre's research goals.
Requirements:
• Hold a Ph.D. degree in Immunology, Pharmacology, Medicinal Chemistry, Natural Product Chemistry, or related disciplines, with significant postdoctoral research experience; • Demonstrated expertise in elucidating the mechanisms of natural products, particularly in how they modulate mucosal immunity and systemic immune responses; • Demonstrated capacity to design research protocols independently, interpret scientific findings, and maintain a strong publication record; • Innovative, self-motivated with good planning and organisational skills; • Team-oriented, with excellent communication skills; and • Good English communication skills and the ability to write clearly.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
