This job attracts a Recruitment and Retention payment of £25,000 in addition to £8000 relocation allowance. The RRP is pro rata for part time employees.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Community Children and Young People Services (CYPS) team in East Surrey. You will play a key role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people aged 5-18, working with a skilled multi-disciplinary team based across Leatherhead and Gatton Place, Redhill.
This is a great opportunity to provide clinical leadership and direct psychiatric care within a service that delivers early support and specialist interventions for young people experiencing mental health difficulties. Our team works closely with families, schools, social care, paediatrics, and voluntary sector partners to ensure joined-up, holistic care.
You will carry out assessments, provide diagnosis and treatment, and offer consultation and supervision to colleagues across the service. The role also involves contributing to service development, clinical governance, teaching, and quality improvement activities. You'll be supported by an experienced leadership team, administrative staff, and a Trust that values learning, wellbeing, and professional development.
Main duties of the job
You'll have the opportunity of working within a well-established and friendly team of highly skilled professionals who are passionate and committed to the care needs of our children and young people.
The postholder will offer outpatient clinics, hold a caseload and be required to do occasional home visits. You will liaise with primary care, be involved in referrals and new assessments.
The post holder will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
MBBS or equivalent recognised medical qualification. Full medical registration with a license to practice. Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act(or within 6 to 12 months of the time of interview/assessment) or equivalent
Desirable
Relevant higher degree, e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications MRCPsych or equivalent Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing leadership skills.
Eligibility Essential
Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment. Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
Desirable
Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within three months of appointment In good standing with GMC concerning warnings and conditions on practice
Clinical Skills, Knowledge and Experience Essential
Knowledge oflegislation, Department of Health Guidance and literature and its implications for clinical practice Knowledge of NHS strategic vision in the Next Stage Review (High-Quality Care for All) Excellent clinicalskills using bio-psychosocial perspective and wide medical knowledge Ability to meet duties under MHA and MCA Experience working with various patient groups presenting with the full range of clinical severity across different care Scr SAPB-RC-JD-XXX version[Publish Date] Page 15 of 16 settings, including community, inpatient, and specialist teams.
