We're looking for a Safety Advisor to work with our client Main Roads WA in Bunbury. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, supporting the delivery of road infrastructure and construction projects across the South West region. We're seeking a practical, field-focused safety professional who enjoys being on site, working alongside project teams, supervisors and contractors to help deliver work safely. You'll be someone who can build trusted relationships, provide practical advice and influence positive safety outcomes across construction and operational environments. Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this role offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
• Partnering with project teams, supervisors and contractors to promote safe work practices across construction activities • Providing practical WHS advice and support throughout project planning and delivery • Conducting site inspections, audits and safety observations to identify hazards and improve safety performance • Supporting the development and implementation of Safety Management Plans, SWMS, risk assessments and other project safety documentation • Investigating incidents, hazards and near misses, identifying root causes and supporting corrective actions • Monitoring contractor safety performance and ensuring project safety expectations are being met • Facilitating toolbox talks, site briefings, inductions and safety conversations with frontline teams • Supporting emergency preparedness activities and promoting proactive risk management • Monitoring safety trends and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives • Building a positive safety culture through coaching, collaboration and visible field leadership What you will bring to the team:
• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum requirement) • Diploma of Work Health and Safety highly regarded • Experience working in construction, civil infrastructure, road construction, maintenance, mining, utilities or other operational environments • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with contractors, supervisors and frontline workforces • Practical experience conducting site inspections, audits, risk assessments and safety observations • Strong understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation and management systems • Experience facilitating toolbox talks, inductions and safety training activities • Incident investigation experience, including hazard and near miss management • Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills • A practical, approachable and solutions-focused approach to safety Highly regarded
• ICAM certification • Experience working on road, transport or civil infrastructure projects • Previous experience in contractor-facing safety advisory roles • Experience working within government or government-supported infrastructure projects Interested?
