Main duties of the job
On admission, to take detailed and accurate medication histories (level one) and to check that the medicines prescribed for each patient correspond with the information gathered (level two).
Advise ward staff, patients and carers of any supply problems and to liaise with appropriate members of the pharmacy team to obtain a resolution.
Maintain ward stock supplies and carry out regular reviews with the ward manager and ward pharmacist to ensure the stock list is up to date and appropriate for the needs of the ward.
Have a working knowledge of electronic systems within the dispensary including the pharmacy labelling system, pharmacy robot and prescription tracking.
Understand the requirements of the clozapine clinics and the prescribing of clozapine in order to label, dispense and accuracy check effectively.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Professional Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Be an Accredited Checking Technician.
Desirable
BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians.
Experience Essential
Current ward-based pharmacy technician experience including POD checking, supply, and medicines reconciliation.
