Job summary

We are pleased to invite applications from a friendly and motivated GP to join our supportive NHS practice. Our practice prides itself on delivering caring, patient centred services within a collaborative and welcoming team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to become part of an established practice with strong team relationships and a stable patient list.

The post is for working days on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, providing consistency for both the GP team and our patients. On Monday and Wednesday, we are looking for evening surgeries running until 7pm, with an earlier finish on Tuesday. We are looking for a GP who enjoys being part of a team, values continuity, and is committed to high quality clinical care.

Main duties of the job

Usual duties of a GP in primary care, including surgery consultations, associated clinical administration, signing repeat prescriptions, home visits where required, and participation in the GP oncall rota.

6 clinical sessions per week Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

Evening surgery Monday and Wednesday preferred

Flexible start date

Standard clinical sessions - 10 minute appointments

9.00am to 12.00pm

1.00pm to 4.00pm or 4.00pm to 7.00pm

Session length (including administration): 4 hours 10 minutes

Participation in agreed rotas and shared clinical cover, with Partner support readily available

On call/duty Doctor responsibilities may require longer session lengths.

Attendance at regular clinical meetings and monthly protected learning time

Purpose built, airconditioned medical centre (originally built in 1988 and extended)

List size approximately 18,000 patients

Seven GP Partners and Five Salaried GPs, supported by GP Trainees and an experienced nursing team including prescribing nurses

Five GP Partners are accredited Trainers

Member of Marshalls PCN - GP Partner is Co-Clinical Director

Good CQC rating and consistently high QOF achievement

EMIS Web practice with EPS and e-RS

Job description Job responsibilities

Job Summary

The post-holder will manage a clinical caseload and provide comprehensive medical services to registered and temporary patients of Western Road Medical Centre. The role is based in a busy primary care environment and requires the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while working autonomously and collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team. The post-holder will contribute to clinical governance, service development and the continuous improvement of care in line with contractual, professional and regulatory requirements.

Clinical Responsibilities

Undertake surgery consultations including face-to-face, telephone and digital consultations in line with practice systems

Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with acute, chronic, complex and undifferentiated conditions

Provide home visits as part of the Home Visit Rota

Make autonomous clinical decisions and take responsibility for patient care

Manage long-term conditions in accordance with practice protocols and national guidelines

Provide preventative care, screening and opportunistic health promotion

Develop, review and implement patient-centred care plans

Provide counselling, advice and health education to patients and carers

Refer patients appropriately to secondary care and other services

Review and action laboratory results, clinical correspondence and referral outcomes

Check, sign and issue acute and repeat prescriptions including undertaking medication reviews as appropriate

Prescribe safely and cost-effectively in line with local formularies and NICE guidance

Maintain clear, accurate and contemporaneous clinical records using the practice clinical system (EMIS)

Collect and contribute data for audit, QOF and service monitoring

Participate in the on call / duty doctor and on-the-day clinical workloads as rotad

Other Responsibilities within the Organisation

Work collaboratively with GP colleagues and the wider practice and PCN multidisciplinary team

Share clinical and administrative workload equitably

Attend and contribute to practice meetings and clinical discussions

Participate in audit, quality improvement and service development initiatives

Support teaching, mentoring and supervision activities where appropriate

Maintain professional competence through appraisal, CPD and revalidation

Comply with all practice policies, procedures and clinical protocols

Qualifications Essential

Fully qualified GP with full GMC Registration On the NHS Medical Performers List (England) Evidence of current appraisal and revalidation Appropriate medical defence/indemnity cover Experience of working as a GP in UK primary care. Management of chronic disease in the community Experience of Home Visits Knowledge of QOF and enhanced services Excellent clinical assessment and decision making skills Safe and effective prescribing practice Competent use of clinical IT systems Understanding of safeguarding adults and children Professional, reliable and punctual Caring empathetic and patient focussed Flexible and adaptable Ability to manage complex and emotionally challenging consultations Able to manage a varied and busy clinical workload safely DBS and occupational health clearance Willingness to work flexibly across agreed sessions

Desirable

MRCGP GP Trainer Clinical Supervisor accreditation Experience in a large or training practice Experience of PCN or neighbourhood working Experience of triage models Interest in mentoring or teaching Full UK driving licence
