About the Role

Are you passionate about fair access to education and inspiring young people to achieve their potential?

As our Access & Outreach Assistant, you will play a frontline role in helping Oxford Brookes University achieve its Access & Participation targets. Working within our Access Projects Team, you will deliver engaging information, advice, and guidance (IAG) workshops in schools and colleges, coordinate sustained access programmes for underrepresented students, and support the logistics behind our major campus events.

What You Will Be Doing:

Delivering Impact: Presenting interactive talks and workshops to young people across schools and colleges in the region. Project & Event Coordination: Supporting sustained widening access programmes and assisting with large-scale inbound events (booking venues, managing student ambassadors, and logistics). Data & Administration: Managing the school liaison inbox and inputting student/event data into HEAT (Higher Education Access Tracker) to evaluate our impact. Collaboration: Supporting academic staff with subject-specific outreach and contributing to major university events like Open Days and Clearing.

What You Need:

Awareness of the UK Higher Education student recruitment and Widening Participation (WP) context. Experience working with young people or delivering presentations/workshops to groups. Strong organizational, IT, and administrative skills. A Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to undertake extensive regional travel, along with occasional evening/weekend work. A degree OR equivalent professional experience in education, youth work, or community engagement.

(Note: The successful candidate will require a DBS background check before appointment. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role).

About the Location

This is a hybrid role split between the Headington Campus and working from home, requiring 1–2 days on campus, remote working, and regional travel.
