POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the General Manager in Chattanooga, TN the position is accountable for working with the current ADM cotton trading network to develop and implement strategic plans for the cotton fiber origination/trading business for USA. Cotton Trading Manager will be accountable for procurement of cotton bales and marketing domestic and international markets to achieve optimum financial results and support our destination teams. In addition, this position, will be responsible for running risk management in accordance with corporate policy, developing strategies that match with our corporate objectives and executing these strategies utilizing corporate and staff resources as deemed necessary. Cotton Trading Manager will be a resource for global cotton fiber risk and strategy and will work to execute efficiently and timely to meet customer and company needs. We are seeking a Cotton Trading Manager with experience in cotton trading and understanding of the full supply chain.
Key skills & competencies: • Business Savvy • Achievement Motivation • Conceptual Thinking • Diversity & Inclusion • Information Seeking • Organizational Awareness • Impact & Influence • Analytical Thinking • Self-Confidence • Flexibility • Persistence • Innovation Description of work performed: • Works with the team to help develop, and implement market development, strategic alignments and objectives for the cotton fiber business. • Responsible for the fiber origination, strategy and growth in the US market with the help of our destination team to align with customer and company needs. • Leads and actively participates in all aspects of marketing primarily within regional domestic markets, with the goal of improving Archer Daniels Midland profitability within a dynamic operating environment. • Interacts with customers and maintains ongoing and regular communications with customers to improve relationships and customer service. • Knowledgeable in truck, rail, and container freight logistics. • Maintains ongoing and regular communications with other cotton offices, operations, and clerical staff to ensure market direction and the growth and maintenance of strong business relationships. • Directs and leads the implementation of marketing strategies such that we achieve or exceed our divisional targets. • Identifies and analyzes potential key supplier and end-user market opportunities within domestic markets for fiber and directs the strategies such that we profitably penetrate these markets • Maintains an up to date knowledge of market trends and competitor activities, revising marketing strategies and programs to capitalize on found opportunities • Represents the fiber trading group on various external meetings, committees and associations in developing and influencing the cotton fiber industry and promoting ADM interests. • Contributes to an environment which cultivates collaboration and continuous improvement. Tracks progress towards the achievement of business plans and objectives, as outlined, and initiates action as required.
: KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
• University degree in agriculture or business (i.e. economics, finance, accounting) supplemented with a minimum of ten (10) years progressively responsible experience in the marketing of commodities and related food, feed and/or fuel products in North America. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. • A master’s degree is considered to be an asset. • Validated capacity to excel within high risk, dynamic work environment. • Shown ability to assess risk and exercise good judgment in making decisions. • Proven negotiation and social skills. : Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
