Systems Engineer Co-Op POSITION PURPOSE The Co-op will support product development projects within the Radiology Device R&D organization. Activities will be conducted in both office and laboratory environments. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience supporting systems engineering activities throughout the product lifecycle while working closely with cross-functional teams involved in the development of regulated medical devices. YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The primary responsibilities of this role are to: • Support systems engineering activities throughout the product lifecycle; • Assist with requirements development, review, traceability, and change management activities; • Support verification and validation planning, execution, data collection, and reporting; • Participate in engineering investigations and root cause analysis activities; • Assist with risk management activities, including hazard identification, risk analysis, and risk control verification; • Contribute to human factors and usability engineering activities, including test preparation and analysis; • Analyze test data and prepare engineering summaries and technical reports; • Support design reviews and cross-functional project meetings; • Work in laboratory and office environments to develop practical solutions to engineering challenges; • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Systems Engineering organization; • Assist with technical documentation required for regulated medical device development. WHO YOU ARE Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: Required: • Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor's or master's degree program in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; • Completion of sophomore year or higher; • Ability to work full-time during the Co-op assignment; • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; • Ability to work effectively in a team environment; • Effective written and verbal communication skills; • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams; • Ability to organize and manage multiple assignments simultaneously. Preferred: • Laboratory or engineering project experience; • Coursework in medical device development; • Exposure to verification, validation, quality, reliability, or risk management concepts; • Familiarity with regulatory environments or standards-based development. Employees can expect to be paid an hourly rate of approximately between $24.00 to $45.50. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits may include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. (if relevant).
