About this role
Are you an experienced Import & Logistics Coordinator and are used to dealing with the Far East? You'll be the link between our factories, freight forwarders and customers, getting products from the factory floor through customs and onto the shelves in multiple countries. This role has an immediate start date
The Role:
* Manage the import of goods from China into multiple countries, including the UK, EU, US and other international markets. This covers both FCL/LCL sea freight and air freight. * Work with freight forwarders, customs brokers and shipping lines to book cargo and get it cleared through customs quickly in each destination country. * Prepare, check and manage import and export paperwork, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin and customs declarations. * Classify products with the correct HS / commodity codes, and calculate duties, VAT and landed costs for each market. * Keep up to date with import rules, duty rates and trade agreements in our key markets, including rules of origin and any changes to tariffs. * Handle shipments on different Incoterms (FOB, CIF, DDP and others). Know who is responsible at each stage, including shipments where we act as importer of record. * Work closely with our China team and factories to plan production collections and container loading, and to confirm order accuracy. * Track shipments from origin to delivery. Give timely updates to the Sales and Customer Service teams and deal quickly with delays, customs holds or inspections. * Coordinate domestic and international parcel and pallet shipments through carriers such as DHL, FedEx and UPS. * Audit freight and duty invoices, manage the logistics budget and find ways to cut shipping and import costs. * Keep accurate shipping and customs records in our Trading file and customer portals.
About You:
* 2+ years' experience in international shipping, freight forwarding or import logistics. * Proven experience importing goods into several countries, ideally shipping from the Far East / China. * A strong working knowledge of customs procedures, HS classification, duties and VAT, and Incoterms. * Experience with FCL/LCL sea freight and air freight, and working with freight forwarders and customs brokers. * Experience in consumer goods, toys or retail is a huge plus. Knowledge of UK, EU and US import requirements is highly desirable. * Strong Excel skills and experience with shipping or forwarder booking systems. * Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple shipments, time zones and deadlines in a playful but demanding environment. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * A proactive problem-solver who spots issues before they happen. ?
