CUMBERLAND COUNTY SCHOOLS Job Description TITLE: English as a Second Language (ESL) Lead Teacher (11 months) (PRC 104 (Federal Title III)) FLSA STATUS: Exempt QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a minimum of five years teaching experience and hold a valid NC teaching license in ESL. Master's degree preferred. REPORTS TO: ESL Coordinator DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides supplemental training and coaching to classroom and ESL teachers through workshops, observations, co-planning, co-teaching, and site-based follow-up support meetings. Provides supplemental training and coaching to ESL and content-area teachers in modifying and differentiating instruction and assessment for ELs based on NC ELD ES/WIDA and SIOP. Creates and provides model lessons for ESL and content-area teachers using the best practices and instructional models such as SIOP and ExC-ELL. Develops, implements and conducts differentiated training and staff development activities for faculty at identified target schools. Uses data management systems to inform instructional practice and shape professional development activities. Assists school-based teams to develop capacity to train and coach more classroom and content-area teachers. Leads Summer Language Development opportunities. Oversees implementation of digital tools for ESL instruction and instruction of Els and provides initial training and support to teachers. Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to physically perform a basic life operational functions of sitting, light lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license.
