About this role
Role Purpose
The Software Engineering Team Lead provides hands-on technical leadership and delivery ownership for a squad of junior engineers, aligned to Experian’s Product Development career framework. This role focuses on engineering execution, technical direction, and team enablement rather than people management or HR administration.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Direction & Quality: Provide architectural guidance, conduct design and code reviews, and champion CI/CD, observability, and secure-by-default practices.
Mentorship & Capability Building: Coach junior engineers, maintain team playbooks, and foster a culture of craftsmanship and learning.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Partnership: Partner with Product and Project Managers and collaborate with Line Managers on staffing and growth (no HR ownership).
Essential: Experience leading junior-heavy teams, strong system design fundamentals, proficiency in modern backend and frontend stacks, Agile delivery, CI/CD, and cloud platforms.
Desirable: AI-assisted development exposure, security best practices, and experience in regulated or high-availability environments.
