Under direct supervision of a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Charge Tech or Section Supervisor, performs laboratory tests as assigned; processes and performs laboratory testing in sections where successful completion of clinical rotation has occurred; reviews and reports lab results; and performs operation and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Under close supervision, performs routine clinical laboratory tests of a repetitive nature and typically limited to one laboratory section. • Performs routine qualitative and quantitative clinical laboratory tests of repetitive nature on patient specimens following appropriate methodologies and established policies and procedures. • Analyzes test results; relays results to physicians and other authorized personnel. • Obtains specimens from patients such as blood and transports to laboratory. • Maintains compliance with requirements of lab safety, OSHA accreditation and regulatory agencies. • Performs related duties as required.
Required
• Education: Currently enrolled in a NCCLS-accredited Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Technician program and have completed all pre-clinical, core medical laboratory sciences • License/Certification: Heart Association BLS CPR certification required
