An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 36 hour Fixed term contract until 31st May 2027 for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the Elective and Trauma Orthopaedic Ward at the University Hospital of North Durham. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated nurse with a genuine interest in orthopaedics to join our expanding team. You will play a key role in delivering high standards of care to all our patients and contributing to a supportive, forward thinking clinical environment.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for delivering a consistently high standard of patient care. They will organise and plan care according to individual patient needs, ensuring all care requirements are met. The post holder will remain accountable for the care they provide and will work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a safe, supportive and effective clinical environment
Communicate changes to patient information and treatment plans clearly to team members, both verbally and in writing.
Adhere to NMC standards of record keeping to ensure accurate, timely and professional documentation.
Support the Ward Sister in setting, monitoring and maintaining high standards of care.
Participate in nursing audit and service improvement activities, including initiatives such as Essence of Care.
Work within resource and budget constraints, recognising the importance of efficient and responsible use of resources.
Provide advice and act as a role model to junior staff and colleagues, promoting best practice.
Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety in all aspects of care delivery
