About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced radiographer to lead the cross-sectional team for the Radiology Department at Alder Hey.

We are looking for a knowledgeable, and experienced radiographer with a passion and interest paediatrics, who will embrace the opportunity to manage their own team and to lead and develop the CSI service at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust.

We have 2 Philips Ingenia MRI scanners - including a 3T intra-operative system, 1 GE 3T Signa Premier research MRI scanner & 1 Philips 5300 CT scanner and are currently in the process of installing the first Philips 7300 CT scanner in a designated paediatric centre.

We perform a wide range of examinations including advanced cardiac and neuro imaging, with the service provided over 24 hours, 7 days per week. You will play an essential role in Alder Hey achieving QSI accreditation and ensuring high standards of imaging and patient care.

Main duties of the job

To lead and develop the CSI service ensuring the service meets Radiology, Trust and National standards; bringing innovative solutions and providing excellent patient care. To lead a service in conjunction with deputy CSI lead to provide a seamless and efficient service for all Cross-Sectional Imaging.

Job description Job responsibilities

Responsible for the management and delivery of a comprehensive and effective CSI imaging service.

To manage within the CSI service, the staff, personal development, PDRs, and act as first line manager for sickness/absence, capability, disciplinary and professional issues.

To provide professional support for staff and to develop plans to improve patient care within current professional and legal standards, local and national policies.

To monitor the effectiveness of departmental protocols and procedures utilising audit/research to initiate and implement new protocols and procedures

Facilitate the training and development of radiographers, student radiographers, and imaging department assistants in conjunction with the Radiology Practice Education Facilitator (PEF).

Person Specification

Education Essential

BSc Diagnostic Radiography Level 7 specialist qualifications or extensive equivalent experience Management training/supervisory experience of a group of staff

Desirable

Management qualification Good Clinical Practice Certificate

Experience Essential

Significant experience in a CT/MRI department in a senior role Evidence of further professional development/expanded roles/quality management Experience of resource management and able to manage resources effectively First line management experience of a group of staff Experience of governance, incident reporting and risk management
